Beyond Work
More than just retail.
Processes, KPIs and leadership take up a large part of my professional life. But of course, there's a life beyond spreadsheets, stores and shrinkage figures.
Whether it's motorsport, football, aviation or a good true-crime documentary – there are quite a few things I can get genuinely excited about. And when things are allowed to slow down, my two cats Bobby and Milo reliably make sure there's rarely a dull moment at home.

Motorsport & Mobility
If it has wheels, it usually has my attention. What draws me to motorsport above all is the combination of technology, precision, strategy and speed – Formula 1 most of all.
But mobility, for me, doesn't only happen on a racetrack. Scooters and two-wheelers are just as much a part of it as my e-bike, which allows for the occasional quieter ride through the surrounding area.
Engine, battery or muscle power: in the end, it's about driving fun, technology and the simple feeling of being on the move.

Football
Football has simply always been part of my life – and my heart clearly beats for FC Bayern Munich.
What fascinates me are the emotions, the big matches and those special moments when eleven players truly become a team. And of course, the nail-biting is part of it too – including the occasional question of why an apparently obvious tactical decision on the pitch was somehow spotted by no one except me. 😉
In the end, football for me is above all passion, entertainment – and sometimes an excellent exercise in patience.

Aviation & Technology
Aviation has fascinated me for a long time – not least because behind every seemingly ordinary flight lies an incredibly complex interplay of technology, people, procedures and safety.
I find the technical background of aviation particularly interesting, along with the analysis of incidents and accidents. What interests me is less the sensation and much more the question: what happened, why did it happen – and what was learned from it?
Perhaps that fits my professional side quite well: I'm rarely satisfied with knowing that something happened. I usually want to understand the why behind it, too.

True Crime & Documentaries
True crime is one of those topics where “I'll just have a quick look” can turn into several hours remarkably fast.
What interests me most are the backgrounds of real cases: investigative work, motives, psychology, social context – and the question of how a case can be reconstructed piece by piece.
For me, good documentaries and podcasts are therefore not simply about a crime. They show people, decisions, connections – and sometimes how differently one and the same story can be viewed.
Two Cats · One Team · Plenty of Personality
And then there are Bobby & Milo.
At home, Bobby and Milo are in charge – two cats with quite different personalities and the apparent conviction that my daily schedule should fundamentally revolve around them.
Between sleeping, observing, lounging around together and the occasional burst of chaos, the two of them reliably provide the necessary counterbalance to everyday life.
And cats can probably do something we humans sometimes still have to work at: switching off, enjoying the moment – and not giving a single thought to whether some task is still open.
Two cats. Two characters. And definitely never boring.
What do work and life beyond it have in common?
Probably my curiosity.
Whether it's a retail process, a spreadsheet model, motorcycle engineering, aviation or a gripping documentary: I'm rarely interested only in the fact that something works or happened. Most of the time, I also want to understand why.
And sometimes the best analysis is a very simple one: close the laptop, switch off the day – and make time for the things that are fun.
